Scheduling

Photography is all about light, and catching the ‘best light” is key. I schedule MOST sessions in the evening, 2.5 hours before sunset, (mid-day sun causes harsh shadows and squinty eyes). If the skies are overcast, we'll bump your time by 1-2 hours for more available light.  Please leave a little wiggle room in your schedule to allow for this. I will reach out to you the day before your session (when we have the 24-hour forecast) to solidify a time.

Inclement Weather Policy: I can make great photos in any weather and will do so in situations when rescheduling is not an option (weddings, events, etc.). Fortunately, portrait sessions typically allow for some flexibility here. It's not every day you invest in a portrait session, and my highest priority is to provide you with outstanding images. Inclement weather can pose some obvious problems like bad hair, visible raindrops on clothing, and posing challenges (I often have my clients sitting/leaning on surrounding structures). But even a thick overcast day can be less-than-ideal. First and foremost - poor light can reduce the overall image quality, color, and depth. Especially in our area with all the dense greenery.

When assessing the forecast for your shoot, I’m taking a lot of things into consideration like location, outfits, and general creative vision I have in mind for your shoot. If I’m feeling like your session calls for some sun and it’s looking pretty overcast, I will likely recommend we reschedule. Likewise, what may seem like questionable weather to you, might actually be great for the location and creative-vision I have in mind for your shoot. I ask that you trust my judgment on this, and know that I have your best interests at heart.

If we are forced to reschedule to due weather, not to worry. I build flex days in my schedule for this purpose and will likely reschedule you within a week of your original shoot date, if the weather allows. I can assure you it will be worth the wait to have better lighting conditions for your photos.

Emergency Cancellation Policy

I typically book out 4-6 weeks. In peak seasons (July-December), and/or for weddings & large events, I book out as far as a year or more.   Unlike most photographers, I do not require Booking Fees from my clients (with exception to weddings and events).  I am reserving a date for you, based on an honor system.

I expect my clients to honor their appointment time, with exception to emergencies only. Likewise, I promise to honor your appointment with exception to an emergency on my end.

If either of us need to cancel due to an emergency, I will reschedule you at my earliest opportunity.
